The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations cover risk assessment as part of risk management.A risk assessment is the process of determining which hazards exist on the job site or may appear in the future. A risk assessment identifies which workplace hazards are likely to endanger employees and visitors.

By law, every employer is required to conduct risk assessments of their employees’ work. If the organisation employs more than five people, the results should be documented, as should information about any vulnerable groups of employees, such as older, younger, pregnant, or disabled workers.
